DISTRIBUTION

The Cinédoc & Paris Films Coop collection is available for hire to the cultural and educational sectors. Prints are systematically checked before and after every screening, which helps ensure optimum screening conditions. Every time a film is rented, a document detailing the current print condition is filed. If a print is found to be damaged, Cinédoc & Paris Films Coop , are mandated by the filmmakers to allocate responsibility, deal with insurance matters and carry out any necessary repairs or make new prints.
This site contains a database of all the works in the collection.

RESEARCH
The Cinédoc & Paris Films Coop collection currently comprises over 675 films and videos which highlight the work of 165 filmmakers and video artists.
The collection is the result of 30 years tracking down originals and copies of works that have been forgotten or lost, rare works which are essential to the history of the avant-garde, and which subsequently have been brought back into distribution. Notable examples here are the cinematic works of Man Ray, Alexandre Alexeïeff, Pat O'Neill, the videographic work of the Vasulkas, Pippo Oriani’s film " Vélocità ", those of Ryszard Wasko and the cinematic reconstitution of Emile Reynaud’s "film" "Autour d’une cabine"…

CONSERVATION
Since the Cinédoc & Paris Films Coop collection constitutes an invaluable cinematic and audiovisual heritage, it is important to ensure it remains permanently available. Thus all the films are carefully checked after each screening. This enables us to keep a precise chart of each print’s condition, and ensures that worn out prints are replaced in good time, any accidental print damage is immediately spotted, and to start work on print restoration if required.
This commitment, our response to the trust filmmakers place in us, is essential to ensure that the work is given the respect it deserves.

PROGRAMMING AND ADVICE
Cinédoc curates and organises events relating to cinema and video such as the retrospectives devoted to the work of Steina and Woody Vasulka (15 years of electronic images), Man Ray (with the first complete retrospective of his cinematic œuvre), Kenneth Anger (The Complete Magic Films), a Hommage to Jean Painlevé, Alexandre Alexeïeff "Le cinéma épinglé" ; and international conferences such as: "A century of animated paintings and photo-paintings " at the French Cinémathèque, for the centenary of Emile Reynaud’s Théâtre Optique.
Cinédoc & Paris Films Coop also curate programmes for major exhibitions : Les Immatériaux (Centre Georges Pompidou), Electra (Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris), Vitesses (Fondation Cartier); and film seasons such as the "Cabinet d’amateur" at the French Cinémathèque which ran from 1993 to 1995, "Les Rendez-vous du Cinéma expérimental" at the Forum des Images which has been running since 1998.
Cinédoc also offers an advisory programming service. This site’s on-line database enables you to access Cinédoc’s programming archive, as well as providing a list of thematic suggestions. Please contact us if you have specific enquiries.

DOCUMENTATION
Cinédoc & Paris Films Coop supplies its clients with a range of documentation : information on filmmakers (biographies, bibliographies, press articles and other writings…) and films (technical data, programme notes, articles and other writings…).
